Description of Service Opportunity: The 2024 Summer Per Diem Building Nurse will provide coverage to Summer Nurses to support the needs of students participating in onsite summer programs. Working under the direction of the Summer and Vacation Week Program Manager , the Per Diem Nurse will be responsible for supporting medication management for students in CPS academic programs and general first aid for up to 200 students per building.
The Summer Building Per Diem Nurse will be available for per diem on-site shifts scheduled Monday July 8 - Monday August 2nd. Shifts will be 7 hours (8am - 2:00 pm) at one of the following buildings: CRLS, Fletcher Maynard Academy, M.L. King/ PAUS, Kennedy-Longfellow/VLUS, King Open/CSUS, Morse, Peabody/RAUC, and Tobin.
The Per Diem Nurses will be scheduled and overseen by the Summer Charge Nurse, supported by the CPS Operations Manager.
The position will include 1-2 hours for orientation and onboarding to the program.
Duties will include:
- Collaborate with Summer Program Site Coordinators on maintaining up to date student health information for the summer.
- Promote and support COVID safety protocols, including appropriate procedures for students exposed or displaying symptoms of COVID-19 infection.
- Oversee and administer medication; per student medical records and IEP/ 504 plans.
- Respond appropriately to health emergencies, and offer appropriate First Aid.
- Assess the social and emotional climate for the students.
- Help establish a positive school culture and climate where every child feels safe and respected.
Minimum Requirements: Must be a Registered Nurse, Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant.
Must have three (3) to five (5) years of experience in nursing
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be empathic and listen to others.
Preference will be given to current CHA employees.
Experience working with youth. Nursing experience within a school setting preferred.
Length of Contract: June 1, 2024 - August 2,2024
Contract Amount: $76.00 hourly, Not to exceed $5320.00
