Job Description & Duties:

Screening Cell Samples: Cytotechnologists examine cell samples collected from various parts of the body, such as the cervix, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and body fluids like blood and cerebrospinal fluid. These samples are typically collected during routine screenings, diagnostic procedures, or as part of monitoring treatments.

Microscopic Analysis: Using a microscope, cytotechnologists carefully examine cell samples to identify any abnormalities or changes indicative of disease. They look for features such as cell size, shape, color, and organization to distinguish between normal and abnormal cells.

Identification of Cancerous Cells: One of the primary responsibilities of cytotechnologists is to detect cancerous or precancerous cells. They must be able to recognize the subtle differences between normal cells and those that may indicate the presence of cancer.

Documentation and Reporting: Cytotechnologists meticulously document their findings, recording detailed descriptions of any abnormalities observed during the microscopic analysis. They prepare comprehensive reports summarizing their interpretations and provide this information to pathologists, who make the final diagnosis.

Quality Control: Cytotechnologists participate in quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of their findings. This may involve comparing their interpretations with those of other cytotechnologists, performing proficiency testing, and adhering to strict laboratory protocols and standards.

Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Cytotechnologists often collaborate closely with pathologists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to interpret test results and guide patient care. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Continuing Education: As healthcare technologies and understanding of diseases evolve, cytotechnologists must stay updated with the latest developments in their field. They participate in continuing education programs, workshops, and conferences to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $2,500.00 - $3,000.00 per week

Experience:

• Cytology: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Cytology Certification (Preferred)
• Cytotechnology Degree (Preferred)

Ability to Commute:
