Position Summary:

Calviri is an early-stage healthcare company building exceptional research and product development teams. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join the company’s forward-thinking efforts in developing diagnostic and vaccine products to detect cancer early or prevent it from starting.

Our mission is to provide a broad spectrum of fundamentally different diagnostics and vaccines that will end deaths from cancer. Calviri is focused on using frameshift neoantigens derived from errors in RNA synthesis and processing to provide these pioneering products. The company is currently engaged in the largest dog clinical trial ever conducted, in which we are evaluating the efficacy of a preventative cancer vaccine (https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/21/health/cancer-vaccine-dog-trial/index.html ).

In this engineering position, overarching responsibilities will include current machine tool maintenance and also new designs, development, and optimization of integrated instrumentation for the synthesis of peptides on microarrays using mask-based photolithography. Our tools are similar to those used in the semiconductor industry. Calviri’s microchip technologies are central to our novel vaccines and diagnostics. Candidates familiar with photolithography tools will be favored. This position will perform a variety of maintenance tasks including diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing mechanical and pneumatic systems.

Strong consideration will be given to candidates with a proven record of having functioned both a primary tool technician as well as a team lead that drove projects to completion within timelines. As an early-stage company, Calviri anticipates a candidate being required to engage in a variety of roles to meet these expectations.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Tool ownership including preventative maintenance, evaluation, and tool repairs
• Experience installing capital equipment. Semiconductor preferred
• Experience from new tool power up to completion of Debug - Post debug handing tool over to other organizations – stake holder
• Experience discovering, defining and escalating defects within new tools, working with vendor to resolve issue and\or without vendor support
• Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the tools
• Manage engineering projects to meet: Design, scope, budget, and schedule
• Drive modifications to existing equipment and the designs of new peptide synthesis machinery
• Factory trained on semiconductor equipment. Lytho, Implant or Dry Etch preferred
• Experience with micro fluidics. Computer controlled syringe units. Fluidic pumps\distribution in the milliliter range
• Significant participation in building design, construction and facility systems as the company grows
• Establish close working relationships with the technical staff at our custom manufacturing equipment vendor companies. Work directly with them on equipment improvements, add-ons, software updates, and troubleshooting
• Own safety within area of influence to ensure systems operate reliably and avoid manufacturing/facility or operations impacts
• Provide facilities engineering leadership to the site organizations in support of Safety, Reliability, Quality and cost
• Deliver results through the application of engineering skills and systematic problem-solving, statistical validation of system performance in collaboration with all stakeholders

Qualifications:

• Ideally have 5 years in engineering positions related to semiconductor manufacturing
• Must be proficient in evaluating and repairing semiconductor tools
• Strong record of leading, executing and managing successful projects
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of statistical methods, including Statistical Process Control
• Ability to communicate strategic and tactical concepts across a wide range of employees engineering peers to operational technicians to management
• Demonstrated application of sound engineering principles and technical problem solving
• Strong troubleshooting, teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills
• 10 years of tool owner responsible for capital equipment

Education:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred or related experience including maintenance, repair, design, instrumentation, electrical and manufacturing engineering

In lieu of education,

• 10 or more years as a tool owner or higher position. 10 or more years working as an engineer in the semiconductor industry
• 10 or more years responsible for owning one or more capital equipment
