NOTICE OF VACANCY

Middle Summer School Instructional Assistant 1 & 2

POSITION SUMMARY:

Pending student enrollment, CCPS expects to have vacancies in grades 6-8 for Instructional Assistant I and II at regional schools for a middle school summer school program. Summer school sites are Southern Middle and Windy Hill Middle School.

Middle School Summer School will begin on July 8, 2024, and run through July 30, 2024. The student day will be 3.75 hours Monday through Thursday with instruction in English/Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math, and a Creative Arts or Physical Education. Additional mental health supports will be available. This is an integrated experience that focuses on skills needed to access requisite curriculum in the next grade. All instruction will be in-person.

General Information for Instructional Assistants I and II:

  • Summer school will run from July 8 through July 30
  • Workday is 4.25 hours
  • will be responsible for supporting students with instructional tasks, monitoring safety protocols with students, supervising student breaks, teaching research based and/or standards-based interventions.
  • may be required to work 1 on 1 with students or small groups

Instructional Assistant II

  • may be required to work with small groups or individual students to support and reinforce appropriate behavior and / or implement behavior intervention plans.
  • may be required to perform clerical duties, such as data collection for the delivery of IEP goals and objectives.
  • May be required to assist students with independent living tasks.

Instructional assistant position availability is contingent on student enrollment.

Positions remain open until filled.

Instructional assistants applying for these positions must agree to abide by safety protocols due to COVID-19. Protocols include but may not be limited to wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, frequent hand washing, and cleaning instructional materials.


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or general education development (GED) program certificate


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Pay rate is based on the 2023-2024 Workshop Pay and Special Pay for Employees

Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
