Calspan Corporation is Hiring a Program Manager Near Newport News, VA

Overview

Calspan Systems in Newport News, VA is an industry leader in the engineering and manufacture of complex aerospace hardware and prototype systems for ground test and flight applications. We have been employed in the development of nearly every domestic fixed-wing aircraft, missile, and helicopter system. We are an engineering products based company with excellent prototype and low-rate production machining capability. We are seeking an Program Manager to join our team.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities Listed Below – Compensation and position level commensurate with education and experience.

  • Responsible for cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major program; directs all phases of programs from inception through completion
  • Develop customer relationships by managing associated customers to ensure satisfaction and retention. Stimulate additional work and growth through established customer relationships. Participate in the development of project proposals. Present the value of Calspan to all customers to assist in the identification of new opportunities. Develop strong working relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Lead program review sessions internally and with the customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Establish milestones and manage adherence to master plans and schedule; develop risk assessments and monitors compliance to mitigation plans
  • Participate in the negotiation of contracts and contract changes

Qualifications

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors in related technical discipline
  • 7 years in related discipline
  • Project Management Certification beneficial, but not required
  • Previous experience in management position or;
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
  • Due to security requirements US citizenship is required

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Previous exposure to engineering, machining and fabrication processes, interaction with shop personnel, and familiarity with manufacturing techniques preferably in aerospace industry
  • Thorough understanding of earned value and scheduling using Microsoft Projects
  • Strong understanding of program financial analysis and reporting
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems and drawing interpretation
  • Must have thorough understanding of government contracting vehicles, procurement and subcontracting procedures, task estimating and other operational techniques necessary to accomplish assigned programs
  • Must be able to define and track program risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Must be able to work standard and non-standard shifts at times to meet project budget and schedule requirements
  • May be required to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance
