Full job description

Description: CALM’s Post-doc is a one-year, full-time clinical position that prepares trainees for licensure as a psychologist in Minnesota and may lead to ongoing employment. The training involves some required components but allows for flexibility to create the experiences the candidate desires. Founded in a scientist-practitioner model, our providers are devoted to the development of skills while focusing on strengths.

We view the Post-doc as a final year of training before independent practice, and our supervisory psychologists are dedicated to assisting you in this exciting year. We are invested in you as a practicing psychologist and a person, and strive to make this year meaningful, enjoyable, and helpful as you launch your career.

While CALM has high expectations for Clinical Work, we also believe in having a work-life balance. As such, we require the equivalent of three days, typically 8 to 5 pm, that are open to client contact. At least one day must be done in person; however, depending on client need, telehealth is available for the remaining days. Individuals who wish to take on a greater client load have the potential for bonus pay as a percentage of what they bring into the clinic.

In addition, we are expanding to include group, individual therapy, QEEG and Neurofeedback, as well as ADHD coaching.

We offer opportunities for both in-person and tele-psychological services, tailored for both client and clinician preference and scheduling.

Our providers have the following competencies, experience, and training: Marriage and family therapy, Couples therapy, Individual therapy, QEEG interpretation, Parent training, training for professionals, Presenting, ADHD coaching, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, DC 0-5 trained, early childhood and developmental interventions, Assessment of complex clients, and Autism Assessment.

Core Clinical Activities:

CALM’s Post-Doc is expected to carry a psychotherapy and assessment caseload. Assessment clients will be ages 6 and above. Therapy clients can be of any age and may include individual therapy, couples therapy, parent training, and family therapy. Before the training, candidates discuss the expected goals for the candidacy, which may include ages and populations for psychotherapy as well as how much therapy or assessment they wish to do. While CALM has flexibility, we require Post-Docs to work in a broad enough capacity to both ensure competence and meet CALM’s needs.

Core Training Activities:

Weekly Group and individual supervision

Optional Activities:

CALM is always interested in expanding what we offer to clients, and this starts with our staff. If you identify a need or have a skill you feel could help CALM or our clients, let our provider know. You could be the key to adding to our practice.

In addition, Post-docs can participate in creating presentation material, speaking at conferences, or producing content for our blog website. This is also an opportunity to start the process of becoming a supervisor by providing training and experience to practicum students and psychometrists.
