The Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board has an opening for an Environmental Scientist to join the Agriculture and Cannabis Section. The position is located at 3737 Main Street, Suite 500, Riverside – in the heart of downtown, walking distance to the Fox Performing Arts Center, restaurants, museums, the historic Mission Inn, and a few blocks from the Metrolink station. Duties:

This position of Environmental Scientist is responsible for coordination of the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Non-Point Source (NPS) programs and implementation of the Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program. Serve as the Santa Ana Water Board’s lead for the Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program and project manager for implementing the General Waste Discharge Requirements for Discharges of Waste from Irrigated Lands in the San Jacinto Watershed (Agricultural Order), which includes: public and professional communication and outreach with agricultural operators, technical consultants engaged in scientific investigations, federal, State, and local agency representatives, environmental group representatives, and other interested parties.

Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
