Job Summary

The primary objective of this position is to undertake a range of tasks in support of Telecommunications operations and to oversee the university's campus operator telephone service. This entails providing training and supervision to student operators in their daily telephone console-related duties, as well as promptly answering calls on the campus operator console and assisting callers as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform operational duties including managing trouble tickets, work orders, answering Telecom call queue customer service calls, and using general telecom administrative applications to fulfill end user support requests.
  • Provide supervision, scheduling, and training to campus telephone operators and assist callers with a strong emphasis on customer service.
  • Assist with Telecommunications related operational reports, billing, and analysis.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, with technical and non-technical individuals within a culturally diverse campus environment. Maintains a professional demeanor. Maintains IT professional standards of anonymity for files that reside on campus servers and computer systems. Maintains confidentiality of all information. Attend and participate in departmental and team meetings. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs and objectives of the department and/or division.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience with systems analysis desired, computer proficiency, and demonstrated customer service skills.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to 4 years of administrative support experience required.
  • Previous customer services skills preferred.

Physical Summary

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3,680 - $4,250 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,680 - $5,783 per month.

Benefits

Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a permanent position.
