Job Summary

The Campus Visit and Admissions Advisor is responsible for supporting and coordinating Welcome Center operations and Admissions sponsored projects and events. As the first point of contact for many campus guests, this position is responsible for welcoming prospective and current students, supporters, faculty, employees, and alumni with hospitality. This role supports prospective students and visitors with general knowledge of Cal Poly and will provide individual and group student advisement for the admission application and enrollment processes. The employee will also support the Cal Poly student tour guides, the Poly Reps University Ambassadors, as an official staff advisor.

Department Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director for Admissions and Enrollment Development, the Campus Visit & Admissions Advisor is an employee responsible for supporting and coordinating Welcome Center operations and Admissions & Recruitment sponsored projects and events. As the first point of contact for many campus guests, this position is responsible for welcoming prospective and current students, supporters, faculty, employees, and alumni with hospitality. The incumbent supports prospective students and visitors with general knowledge of Cal Poly and will provide individual and group student advisement for the admission application and enrollment processes. The employee will also support the Cal Poly student tour guides, the Poly Reps University Ambassadors, as an official staff advisor. The employee coordinates and oversees Welcome Center projects, administrative tasks, student assistant scheduling, student hiring and onboarding, event planning, and campus visit support in coordination Admissions leadership.

Key Qualifications

  • Advise and assist prospective students, supporters and community members in explanation of academic programs, admission selection criteria and the enrollment process.
  • Create and give presentations to campus visitors, prospective students and various internal and external diverse audiences in individual and group settings.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors to the university via telephone, email, website, in person visits and other strategies.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job‑related field. Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
  • A master’s degree in a job‑related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
  • Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $60,990 - annually

Classification Range: annually
