Department Summary
Facilities Planning & Management is here to provide, maintain, and enhance the campus community in support of the University's mission. Facilities Planning & Management consists of two divisions whose combined scope encompasses all aspects of Facilities at California State University, San Bernardino: Facilities Management and Facilities Planning, Design & Construction.
Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Warehouse Worker performs work involving the receipt, checking, storage, inventory, issue, and delivery of materials, equipment, and supplies; uses powered or non-powered materials handling equipment and delivery trucks; and prepares and/or files forms associated with receipt and delivery of goods.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Stores / Warehouse Operations Support
  • Assist with processing customer parts and materials requests, including but not limited to material requisitions, purchase orders, purchase requests, and one-time purchases; make required entries on the CMMS database.
  • Receives incoming truck and parcel goods shipments or pick up shipments at vendor facilities or common carrier terminals.
  • Utilizes a wide variety of powered and non-powered materials handling equipment (e.g., hand trucks, power forklift, large trucks, desk movers, dollies, carts, power lift gates, etc.) to load and unload trucks or other common carriers and to transport goods to specified areas.
  • Employ special handling techniques to transport of fragile, toxic, inflammable, radioactive, or short shelf-life goods.
  • Prepares items for delivery by palletizing, banding, labeling, or assembling with hand tools.
  • Stocks and restocks of shelves, bins or other storage facilities.
  • Take physical inventories and keep perpetual inventory records of quantities of stock on hand.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating status of materials orders within the materials management/CMMS database.
  • Display consistent behavior and attitude that supports and fosters a diverse, safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
  • Maintain warehouse and storage area safety, organization, and cleanliness; apply proper protocol when handling and transporting heavy, fragile, or hazardous material.
  • Adhere to all equipment safety rules and guidelines; Maintain valid equipment operating licensing, certifications, and training requirement.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, and university personnel.
  • Exercise respect and collegiality; use tact, courtesy, alertness, and good judgment in responding to others.
Inventory Control
  • Utilize current inventory control techniques, available tools, and the materials management systems (TMA) to maintain warehouse inventory records and to control on-hand inventory.
  • Perform cyclical counting of on-hand supplies.
  • Track minimum/maximum inventory levels; replenish stock of required supplies and materials.
  • Adequately care for stored supplies; rotate usage and ensure optimum storage locations.
  • Maintain awareness of product shelf-life; properly dispose of unusable and obsolete supplies.
Shipping & Receiving
  • Receive, process, and track material requests received by CMMS (TMA), in person, by written/typed form, by telephone, via fax, via Web page or via email.
  • Assign lot/warehouse storage locations to on-hand supplies and materials.
  • Record daily transactions of inbound/outbound supply shipments, arrivals, and disbursements.
  • Pick, stage, and ship outbound materials and supplies; ensuring proper packing, sealing, and paperwork.
  • Unload and/or unpack a wide variety of incoming material including office supplies, furniture, biological products, agricultural supplies, building materials, and industrial and mechanical equipment.
  • Check incoming material against invoices or bills of lading to verify correctness, condition, and quantity of items received and correct any problems that arise, assist with reviewing and reconciling monthly Procurement Card statements.
  • Reconcile inbound shipments against open work orders, purchase orders, and packing slips (manifests) to verify correctness, quality and quantity of items; inspect to confirm compliance, proper specifications and to report damage product.
Other
  • Participate in the development and testing of new processes, procedures and software; identify processes requiring review or update.
  • Serve on department and/or university committees as directed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Employment Status: Full-time, Probationary, "Non-Exempt" position (with the possibility of converting to permanent).

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.
Key Qualifications
  • Experience working within a diverse community.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and apply CSU procurement practices, procedures, and materials specifications.
  • Ability to quickly establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Working knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, packing, and shipping materials and supplies.
  • General knowledge of methods of taking inventories and maintaining inventory records.
  • Ability to match names and numbers quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to keep simple records and make simple reports.
  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to make simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to operate powered materials handling equipment.
  • Ability to apply safe methods of moving heavy supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to perform manual labor.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • One year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage, or issuance of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse.
  • Experience in the operation of forklift trucks or similar power-operated materials handling equipment.
  • California driver's license appropriate for each vehicle operated which may include two-axle single-motor and one towed vehicle (e.g., a trailer with a gross weight of 6,000 pounds or less)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in utilizing resource, asset, and materials, and inventory management software systems such as PeopleSoft, and WebTMA.
  • Working knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,120 - $4,806 per month
