California Rural Indian Health Board, Inc. is Hiring a Public Health Training Project Coordinator Near Roseville, CA

Essential Functions:

1. Facilitates alcohol counselor certification training and continuing education.

2. Conducts American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) culturally specific suicide awareness, prevention, intervention, postvention, and related training.

3. Administers all grant activities related to the alcohol and other drug counselor certification and suicide prevention training for participating Tribes and Tribal Health Programs.

4. Coordinates community training events.

5. Develops linkages to county and Indian health programs serving the AIAN community members.

6. Conducts AIAN culturally competent training workshops, facilitation of suicide prevention/intervention training workshops, and alcohol and drug counselor training.

7. Analyzes program plans; develops and administers program objectives, activities, staffing needs, and funding allotments for Tribes and/or THP.

8. Monitors assigned grant programs to ensure compliance with contract provisions and funding source regulations; recommends and facilitates implementation of procedural and operational changes to maximize service delivery and enhance revenues.

9. Provides training and technical assistance to Tribal organizations, THP clinics, American Indian community members, and state/county programs.

10. Coordinates the development, production, and dissemination of educational materials and promotional items.

11. Communicates health education needs, concerns, and resources regarding American Indian populations.

12. Prepares and disseminates all necessary funder reports.

13. Acts as representative with various workgroups, networks, and/or task forces.

14. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a valid, unrestricted California Driver’s license and ability to be insurable under CRIHB’s automobile insurance. If the employee has a valid license from another state, employee must obtain a CA license within 2 months of the hiring date.

2. Position requires 50%-60% travel throughout California.

3. Requires the ability to drive up to 7 hours a day.

Qualifications:

1. Master’s Degree in a Health-related field preferred OR Bachelor in a Health-related field with three years of experience in a related field.

2. Extensive knowledge of theories, principles, goals, and objectives of behavioral health, and public health.

3. Principles, practices, and techniques of program planning, development, evaluation,

procedures of budget preparation and monitoring, including budgets involving grants, contracted services, and state and federal funding.

4. Techniques of contract negotiation and monitoring experience in the public health field and evaluation preferred.

5. Ability to work on various computer programs such as word processing and graphics software.

This position requires an awareness and keen appreciation of American Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs and the ability at all times to meet and deal effectively in contacts with Indian organizations which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified American Indians in accordance with the Indian Preference Act (Title 25, U.S. Code, Sections 472 and 473).
