Must be a CIAT Student 

CIAT Location: San Diego, CA

Reports to: Director of Career Services

Status: Non-Exempt

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Career Services Advisor to join our team to work closely with current and graduate students to ensure ACCET placement and graduation rates.

Job Summary

Career Services is seeking a Federal Work-Study student to join our team and assist in the review and approval process of employers and position listings on Handshake. This role will provide valuable support to our department in ensuring the quality and relevance of job opportunities available to our students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Review Employer Profiles: Examine employer profiles on Handshake to ensure they meet our department's criteria for approval.

2. Evaluate Job Postings: Review and assess job postings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to departmental guidelines.

3. Communicate with Employers: Engage in effective communication with employers to request additional information or clarification, if needed.

4. Approve/Reject Listings: Make recommendations to approve or reject employer profiles and job listings based on established criteria.

5. Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of reviewed employers and job postings, as well as any correspondence with employers.

6. Provide Assistance: Offer guidance to employers on improving their listings when necessary, promoting best practices for recruiting our students.

7. Collaborate with Team: Work closely with other Career Services team members to ensure a smooth and efficient approval process.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled at California Institute of Arts & Technology and eligible for Federal Work Study 
  • Must be in good academic standing, which includes a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and 80% attendance
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in using computer software and online platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An interest in career development and helping fellow students succeed

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 

The Federal Work Study Student for Career Services is expected to work 20 hours per week during the academic year, with flexibility around class schedules.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
