Position Title: Forklift Operator

Summary Description

The Forklift Operator is responsible for driving a forklift to unload pallets of fruit from field trucks and moving them into the warehouse for cooling. Restack juice and partial pallets of fresh fruit as directed. Must be able to load pallets of fresh fruit onto semi-trucks accurately & safely and ensure the truck driver is not allowed in the trailer. This person must be able to drive safely in close proximity with foot traffic and other forklift traffic.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Operates the forklift to transport pallets of Fruit and other materials as directed.
• Make minor adjustments and or repairs to equipment
• Refuel forklift as needed
• Must be able to operate wireless equipment.
• Must be accurate in counts.
• Able to work varying shifts, holidays & weekends.
• Must pass a written and driving forklift test.
• Follow general safety rules & forklift safety program
• Regular attendance required
• Follows Daily Cleaning Procedures
• Keep loading docks parking area, shipping office, and loading pit free of debris and sweep
• Empty all garbage cans and put in new liners
• Clean and sweep the entire outside of the cooler,. This also includes cleaning and sweeping outside the fence perimeter
• Able to follow supervisors’ instructions
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• Valid California Drivers License
• Experience in safe forklift operation 
• Must be capable of passing forklift certification program provided by California Giant Cooling

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 40 Lbs 
• Operator must be able to see or hear obstacles such as other moving equipment, other personnel and truck drivers in the operator’s vicinity.
• Must be able to read gauges, shift gears, depress pedals and operate heavy equipment safely.
• Must be able to climb up onto and down from forklift
• Must be able to work in Cold environments for long periods of time
