California Employment Development Department (EDD) is Hiring a Privacy Officer (IT Manager I) Near Sacramento, CA

Job Description and Duties

THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

The EDD provides millions of Californians with benefits each year, that require the use of both public and private data from individuals and business. EDD is dedicated to the safeguarding and handling of this data.

The Cybersecurity Division of the EDD's Information Technology Branch has an immediate opening for its Privacy Officer. This is an essential, exciting, highly visible role with regular exposure to senior executives and managers to influence decision making and drive progress on the Department's Privacy Office and Disclosure needs. This position is ideal for those that are collaborative thought leaders with experience managing complex state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to privacy. The IT Manager I will plan, organize, and direct staff to ensure EDD is adhering to applicable privacy laws and ensure EDD data is protected through policy, standards, and data sharing contracts. Additionally, this individual will help EDD leadership to understand and respond to legislative initiatives dealing with data privacy laws.

This position is headquartered in 800 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, California and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Position exists in downtown Sacramento.
The office is right near light rail, the Capitol, and within walking distance of many restaurants and the Golden 1 Center.
