The Family Engagement and Empowerment Division (FEED) California Department of Social Services is seeking an Child Nutrition Consultant (CNC) who are highly motivated, self-starters that can perform compliance reviews of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). These administrative reviews (ARs) include child care centers, adult day care centers, emergency shelters, at-risk child care centers and day care home reviews to ensure state requirements and federal regulations are met. In addition, they will complete highly sensitive assignments which involve follow-up, complaints, problematic and seriously deficient reviews.
Job Description and Duties
The CNC will organize, plan and complete the ARs within the established timeframes. The CNC is required to provide training, technical assistance, and consultant services to CACFP operators in such areas as nutritional needs of children; evaluating methods of food service; conducting administrative reviews of program operators to determine compliance with applicable laws and rules, including at a minimum - meal counting, eligibility, recordkeeping, financial management to CACFP operators and stakeholders; assisting operators in planning, developing, and implementing coordinated food service with nutrition education programs; and planning, organizing, and conducting training conferences. The CNC may also provide leadership and training to incumbents in the Child Nutrition Assistant or comparable class.
This position requires at least 50 percent travel. Travel is expected within the local area region and throughout California.
