Job Description and Duties

Under the close supervision of a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the incumbent contributes to the Department's Delta Levees Program (Program) in the Bay Delta Region of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). The incumbent reviews various levee project materials, conducts biological inventories, assesses biological impacts, develops mitigation and enhancement measures, writes Streambed Alteration Agreements, and assists in complex policy development and implementation in order to improve fish, wildlife, and plant habitat in conjunction with levee maintenance and improvement activities in the Sacramento/San Joaquin Bay Delta. They participate in Delta subarea planning as required to implement the Program, coordinating with other Regional HabCon Program functions and general Regional functions, headquarters and statewide programs, and other agencies and stakeholders.

This position is a 12 month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

If you currently have permanent status in your position and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position at the end of this LT appointment. If you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status, you will be separated from state service.

During this 12-month Limited Term assignment, you will receive full health, dental, and vision benefits! You will also earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits.

Working Conditions

Incumbent will be required to work indoors sitting at a workstation and outdoors in inclement weather conditions on uneven terrain while performing work functions. Incumbent will also perform various waterside surveys and inspections from a motorized boat. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and equipment and be prepared to travel using a State vehicle.

This position is located at the Bay Delta Region field office in Stockton, CA and offers the possibility of a telework agreement based on the Department's current Telework Policy.
