Job Description and Duties
CDFW is looking for a creative, personable, and self motivated individual to be part of our marine outreach team. The incumbent will lead our public response initiative by managing the AskMarine email account by providing responses via phone and email to public questions regarding marine resources.
The incumbent will also represent CDFW at events, for both general public and scientific audiences. The incumbent will be responsible for simplifying complex scientific information and regulations into laymans terms for the general public. The incumbent should also be prepared to speak to scientific audiences, including other government partners, academic institutions, outside contractors, and more as a general subject matter expert on most marine resource topics. The incumbent should be prepared to contribute to the creation of a range of outreach products, including physical and digital materials, with an emphasis on video production skills. The incumbent will also help maintain webpages and have a working knowledge on making products accessible to a wide range of audiences.
In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam:

Working Conditions
Work is primarily conducted in an office and remote environment and using standard computer equipment; work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods; work includes attending in-person, telephone and web-based meetings; travel to work with staff in various locations throughout the State and cooperators in various agencies and organizations to complete work assignments and coordinate projects and activities; occasional overnight, weekend, and holiday travel may be required; may occasionally participate in extended at-sea and field studies to better understand data collected and managed. Staff will work a 7/40 work schedule. Weekend work, early morning and late-night work hours are occasionally required with advance notice.
Only the following office locations will be considered for this position - Monterey, Santa Barbara, Seal Beach, San Pedro and San Diego.
