You'll collaborate with a diverse community of artists, designers, and educators who share your enthusiasm for the arts and work with a dedicated CAPS staff invested in collaboration and creative thinking. Under the supervision of the associate directors of CAPS, the Licensed Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing brief therapy to a culturally diverse student population, crisis intervention, and consultation and referral to the student community. Additionally they will provide mental health outreach and participate in educational activities provided to CCA students, and the CCA community. The counseling department strives to provide a high quality of care to CCA students and the CCA campus community by adhering to the American Psychological Association's (APA) ethical standards of care. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Counseling/Clinical - 58% (19-22 hours) Plan, develop, and implement mental health counseling services for a diverse and socially active student population; both undergraduate and graduate. Evaluating and developing comprehensive treatment plans for individuals including assessment, diagnosis, coordinating treatment with other professionals, and providing community referrals when indicated. Provide short term individual psychotherapy up to 18-19 hours a week. Provide urgent/risk assessment hours for students in crisis up to 1- 2x hours a week. Provide up to 1-2 hours of Clinical Supervision to Counseling Interns. Has knowledge of and strives to adhere to the APA’s 5 ethical principles in providing mental health care services. Continuous commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and to practice a clinical approach of multicultural awareness, humility, and self-education in working with students from all economic classes, first generation students, LGBTQIA students, international students, and nuances in exploring white identities. Maintain strict adherence to FERPA and HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality practices. Administration - 12% (4-5 hours) Produce timely, empirically supported, and confidential record keeping. Assist in the appropriate maintenance of records, preparation of reports, compliance with legal/ethical requirements, and other program administrative functions. Appropriately, accurately, and efficiently complete and maintain mental health records. Utilize an electronic health record for documentation and computer-based systems for administrative functions. familiarity in utilizing Google suite tools, and Zoom to ensure reliable client care, and in being able to effectively coordinate clinical consultation with counseling team. Referrals - 4% (1.5 hours) Coordinate care and referrals for students when appropriate. Cultivate and manage contacts to off-campus providers that students can be referred to for consultations, assessments, evaluations, medication evaluation, and treatment recommendations. Maintain agreement with in-house referral list. Workshops/Outreach - 13% (5.25 hours) Supports in developing coordinating and providing mental health outreach and psycho-educational workshops for students on a variety of subjects and areas of expertise. Researches and consults with counseling team and other departments on campus to develop relevant topics to present to CCA populations Explores and researches ways to effectively bring student mental health groups to the community Initiates and maintains professional liaison relationships with faculty and staff to enhance outreach efforts to the traditionally under-served students on campus. Has experience with Google suite, CANVA, and Voicethread to develop slide decks and other workshop and outreach materials Works to stay informed about the current generation's concerns and interests related to overall themes of the current generation's lived experiences Assist in cultivating curiosity, awareness, and discussions around diversity and inclusion efforts in counseling center and in the wider campus community related to mental health and wellness in a cultural context Participate as a team member in the wider Division of Student Affairs events as schedule allows. Continued Professional Development - 4% (1.5 hours) Participate in weekly to bi-monthly counseling team meetings. Collaborates and brings ideas, concerns and or support to the team. Maintain a collaborative and cooperative relationship among the multidisciplinary healthcare team by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods. Maintain continuing education requirements applicable to licensure and credentialing. Actively maintain knowledge of best practices, current mental health care research, and mental health care trends, particularly related to the college-aged population. Commitment to active, continued professional and personal growth in the interest of best serving the people and communities one works with Maintain understanding of the growth and developmental of the young adult. Ability to self assess when in need of support and engage in active communication with counseling leadership when facing challenges, considering scope of practice issues, and when questions arise. Other - 3% (1.25 hours) Performs additional duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must possess at least a Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology or a specific, related field. A license issued by the Board of Behavioral Sciences and/or The California Board of Psychology is required. If the licensure is out of state, must comply with regulations for obtaining licensure in order to practice in California. If an unlicensed applicant is an exceptional fit for needs and environment of counseling program and is active in pursuing licensure in California (licensed within 1-2 months maximum) applications may be considered with temporary supervision to be provided by Senior Staff Psychologist until applicant is licensed. 1-3 years post education clinical experience with young adults, and high level of competency with a wide range of clinical issues preferred. Knowledge of the college environment and of the special issues and needs of students of the arts and a personal background or interest in the arts is preferred. Must be well-versed in the theory and practice of contemporary relationally oriented psychotherapy, and be open to continuing to develop professionally in tune with the changing needs of CCA students. Experience in brief psychodynamic therapy is preferred. Current knowledge of social justice and liberatory oriented clinical practices and experience working with a diverse population as well as the ability to integrate knowledge of inclusion, oppression, privilege, and power into one’s professional practice is required. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The compensation for this position is $80,000 annually CCA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including the choice of five medical plans, generous holiday, sick & vacation time, a retirement match and tuition remission. CCA covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for the employee only and an average of 82% for employees with dependents.
