Calandro's Supermarket is currently seeking Janitors / Janitorial Staff for our Perkins Road and Government Street locations. We're looking for someone who's interested in *customer satisfaction above all else* (a Calandro's hallmark) and who loves dealing with people and their teammates in all departments around the store, while being a diligent, efficient, safe, clean, self-starting, and meticulous Janitor - willing to clean, sanitize, organize, and keep safe all areas, facilities, and equipment around the store.

Janitorial Staff Job Responsibilities and Requirements include, but are not limited to:

• Cleaning, Sanitizing, and Organizing all facilities & equipment throughout the store - including public and employee bathrooms - on a rotational basis - with particular focus on bathrooms, common areas, retail and warehouse floors, and the sales floor (some normal food prep & departmental cleaning is performed by dept. staff),
• Working a regular, consistent schedule dependably, with hours timed for proper cleaning activities that need to occur outside of business hours and/or when business is slow, and also timed for availability when business is sometimes heavy, allowing quick response to customer spills and on-the-spot cleaning needs,
• Managing and disposing of trash & store waste and maintaining all trash receptacles, store dumpsters, grease containers/traps, etc.
• Specific, detailed, and/or special deep cleaning activities for certain areas and departments as needed,
• Ordering, organizing and maintaining all cleaning and sanitization supplies for the store as whole and the departments,
• Working with janitorial vendors to maintain supplies, uniforms, mats, paper products, etc.
• Providing friendly customer service on-the-floor when cleaning on the store sales floor during business hours (directing customers to product, seeking help from other grocery staff to find items, etc.), and
• Helping to manage cardboard recycling efforts by proper operation of the box crusher and cardboard bail processing.

Candidate Requirements (musts) include, but are not limited to:

• Being at least 18 years of age or older (per OSHA requirements) for operating warehouse, cleaning, and sanitization equipment,
• Being capable of basic mathematical skills (for cleaning formulas, working with vendors, etc.),
• Being capable of using (or learning to use) carts, box crushers, bailers, pallet jacks, forklifts, floor cleaners/scrubbers/waxers and other grocery and cleaning equipment,
• Ability to work, standing and moving, for up to 5 hours (worst case) between breaks,
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.,
• Possessing excellent customer-relations, teamwork, and communication skills,
• Being a proactive, self-motivated, reliable, punctual individual, and,
• Ability to work at least 24-28 or more hours per week in a part-time or full-time role.

Optional (but Desired) Skills and Experience include, but are not limited to:

• Prior janitorial, cleaning, and/or sanitization experience,
• Prior grocery-store experience is a plus,
• Interest, ability, and/or prior experience in working in customer-service oriented job environments requiring consistency, meticulousness, and dependability while maintaining a high level of safety, efficiency, and quality of work.

Pay: From $11.00 per hour
