ABOUT THE SCHOOL
The Calais School is a state-approved provider of special education for students with special needs. The school serves students in grades K through 12 Plus with multiple learning disabilities. It is our goal to help each and every child realize and build on their strengths and gifts. We are committed to cultivating the potential of every student, making a difference, one child at a time. Required Qualifications:
Certified in NJ Special Education and High School English
As a Special Education teacher, you will be responsible to teach students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. You will adapt general education lessons in high school grade level Science to students with mild and moderate disabilities.

The Calais School is a leading private, non-profit school in special education serving young people in grades Pre-K through 12 Plus since 1970. Our mission is to empower and encourage students with special needs including ADHD, reading and math weaknesses, anxiety and mood disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Success is achieved through: Academic programs based on NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards; Behavior Mod...ification Programs that encourage students to employ appropriate social skills, problem solving and assertiveness; Our Cognitive/Behavioral Counseling team provides emotional support and cognitive strategies for students; Learning Consultants provide IEP supervision and consultations with teachers to ensure the use of individualized and differentiated instruction; Speech & Language specialists address the basic skills of language and social skills development; Reading Specialists assist students with specific reading difficulties; Career & Technical and Transition Education Program to provide career development opportunities. Students come to Calais by referral from local school districts, therapists, and counselors throughout nine northern New Jersey counties.
