ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Currently searching for twenty-two part-time Discovery Camp Counselors to work in the summer, under the supervision of Dr. Steve Alas and the SEES program.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Enterprises offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Enterprises also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Enterprises and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Pepsi Scholarship. In addition, the Enterprises administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Enterprises contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
The counselor positions being advertised here are for Science, Robotics, Computer, and Imagination camps only. The Horse and Entrepreneurship counselors are hired by the Arabian Horse Center and the Student iLab, respectively. Counselors work under supervision by the Camp Director and work with groups of approximately 6-10 campers daily. Camp Counselors are responsible for facilitating and supervising a wide array of fun activities geared specifically for campers, as well as ensuring the safety and well-being of camp participants. A variety of camps and activities are made available to counselors for their selection. Camp assignments are made on a weekly basis. Term: June 10 through July 26, 2024. Note: students cannot be camp counselors if they are taking classes that conflict with camp hours.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Age: Must be at least 18 years of age
Education: Currently enrolled Cal Poly Pomona student OR recent graduate
Experience: Prior experience working with children, preferably in a camp or school setting is preferred, but not required
Knowledge and Abilities:
Additional Knowledge and Abilities for Computer or Robotics Camp Counselors:
CSU along with Cal Poly Pomona Foundation require faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be immunized against COVID-19 or declare an exemption from doing so.
