ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY : Currently searching for up to 16 Part-Time Research Assistants to work on the
Simulation and Modeling Grant, College of Engineering, under the supervision of your advisor and Dr. Behnam Bahr.
ABOUT US : As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Enterprises offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Enterprises also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Enterprises and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Pepsi Scholarship. In addition, the Enterprises administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Enterprises contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
The students are expected to work in Ganpat Center (Room 9-101). One of their responsibilities is to support fellow students under the supervision of your faculty advisor with collaboration of Dr. Bahr on individual projects. Applications are open to graduate students. The requirements include attending workshops, participating in biweekly meetings, and presenting your project to peers. Additionally, students are required to engage with course modules developed by faculty throughout the year and earn digital badges from the Innovation Incubator. These experiences aim to develop well-rounded researchers capable of working in a global team on the Autonomous System. Each position is for 8 hrs/week and can be done in two shifts of four hours during the week. The goal is for students to enhance their knowledge based under their advisor' direction working on their research or projects.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
We are seeking candidates with backgrounds in the following areas: Electronics, Electrical Motors, Dynamics Modeling, Python and or C Programming, CAD Design, Internet Technologies, Internet of Things, and Communications. Hands-on experience is essential for prospective candidates. The students must visit Ganpat Center 9-101 before applying and meet the current students before they apply for the position.
Preferred
Preference is given to students who have already been working on the similar projects. The students applying for this position must be first year graduate standing and graduating in fall 2024 or later. If the students are from ECE, and EMTE must be familiar with C language and Python and have good understanding of Electronics. The computer Science Students must be good with C, Python and have good knowledge of Internet and Communication. The ME students must be good in their Desing courses and measurement course and CAD, knowledge.
