Café Vino Assistant General Manager

Overview

The Assistant General Manager at Café Vino is responsible for co-managing the daily operations of Café Vino. The AGM will support the GM in the hiring and managing of Café Vino team members and also be responsible for oversight of the catering/event programming. The AGM will help us realize our goal of creating a thriving, fun work culture, where we are a best-in-class hospitality workplace. This position will also work to optimize profitability while always ensuring guests receive a best in class dining experience. The Assistant General Manager reports directly to the General Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Primary responsibilities include but are not limited too:

General

  • Responsible for the oversight and management of all areas of the restaurant and making key decisions on matters of importance.
  • Strong knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel), as well as POS, Scheduling, and Inventory platforms. Also use of Tripleseat or other event sales platforms is important.
  • Assist the General Manager when needed with purchasing, sanitation, security, enforcing company policies and procedures, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Provide needed motivation and guidance to team members to ensure that food and service meet or exceed Café Vino standards.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks related to food, beverage, banquets/events and labor while maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Keeps General Manager fully informed of all issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters of significance and positive events) and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or provides alternative courses of action.
  • Completes his/her defined performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and works to meet the expectations of the General Manager and team members.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all team members to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious work culture. Also provides a favorable image of Café Vino while at work or within our community.
  • Maintains team member adherence of restaurant cleanliness, uniform and appearance standards, handles disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Handles restaurant pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities while providing guidance and solutions to restaurant challenges.
  • Plays an active role in all marketing and promotional initiatives for Café Vino.
  • Oversees event sales and execution, ensure financial objectives are met and takes appropriate action when goals are not being met.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

Financial

  • Works with the General Manager to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supplies utility and labor costs.
  • Responsible for ensuring all financial (invoices, bills, reporting) and personnel/payroll related admin duties are completed accurately and on time, and in accordance with Café Vino policies and procedures.

Food & Beverage

  • Maintains sanitary practices for F&B handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen, bar and dining areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
  • Ensures the execution of a consistent quality of food preparation and service.
  • Assists team members in utilizing efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies. Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
  • Estimates F&B needs, ensure orders are placed with distributors, and schedule the delivery of F&B or supplies.
  • Must be ServSafe & TIPS certified – and uphold all guidelines.

Event / Banquet / Catering

  • Ensure events are executed to defined standards. Provides experience managing BEO’s, coordinating culinary execution, staffing, and follow up to banquets or events.
  • Skillfully utilize Event management software tools
  • Effectively promotes Events sales within the Café Vino Community, work closely with CSU and area business
  • Maintain timely and effective communication skills when dealing with guest requests regarding events for Café Vino.
  • Support the GM in the rollout of a competitive Catering program to enhance Café Vino sales.

Operational Concerns

  • Follow operating procedures that support the security of guests, and team members.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, or risks to the General Manager. Take necessary actions in the event of a significant injury.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints or concerns involving food quality, or service.

Personnel

  • Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
  • Support hiring, supervision, development and, when necessary, termination of employees.
  • Conduct team member orientation, explain the Café Vino culture and standards, and oversee the training of new employees.
  • Review SOPs with team members, provide feedback, establish performance expectations and conduct performance reviews.
  • When needed prepare schedules and ensure the restaurant is staffed appropriately.

Supervision of Others

35 employees

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hours will vary, especially if AGM or GM must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise (typical work week = 50 hours).
  • Physical and mental ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level.
  • Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
  • Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operates phones, computers, POS, Printers, fax machines, copiers, and other restaurant or office equipment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
