The Information Systems Security Intern will serve as the CAES Information Systems Security Officer in charge of our twenty Linux Servers and Workstations. Responsibilities include assisting the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) with developing an architectural map and documenting our Information Systems (IS) Procedures associated with developing, implementing, and auditing security plans, policies and procedures on our Classified Local Area Network (CLAN).

• Will document our current and future Linux architectures, work closely with our Information Systems Security Manager and Officers to further understand how our Linux systems fit into our Production efforts, and document our day-to-day Linux Procedures.

• Will develop an understanding of the importance of audit logs and our robust Cybersecurity Policies that keep our systems secure.
• Will administer routine aspects of Information Systems Security to include implementation of security measures that comply with government authorization requirements.
• Will compose detailed and accurate reports and inputs related to our Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) security management systems.
• Will assist Information Systems Security Officers (ISSOs) and perform duties as a member of the security team to execute the insider-threat program.
• Will be given the opportunity to develop an understanding of our Networking tools such as Trellix, Splunk, Veritas Backup Exec, and Linux Satellite Server Administration.

Minimum:

• High School Diploma
• This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred:

• A Security Clearance
• Solid RHEL experience.
• IAT Certifications.
• Ability to multi-task, pay close attention to detail, and work in a fast pace environment.
• Computer skills:
  • Exposure to a networked environment using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Office suite such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• Candidate must be highly organized and self-motivated with excellent documentation skills.
• Candidate should be able to communicate effectively with customers and team members at all levels.
• 1-2 years' of relevant experience

Pay Range: $20- $24 hourly (San Diego). Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
