JOB TITLE: Flagger
DEPARTMENT: Construction
DEFINITION:
This is a fulltime position that controls movement of vehicular traffic through construction zones/sites. Discusses traffic routing plans, and location of control points with superior. Distributes traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern. Directs movement of traffic through site, using sign and or hand, and flag signals. Warns construction workers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers. Informs drivers of detour routes through construction sites. Records license number of traffic control violators for police.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Individual in this position will:
Follow and execute work assignments.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
Performs traffic control and flagging activities as needed following safety rules and regulations on all work zone and flagging sites including placing signs, barricades, traffic cones and other warning devices; duties may vary according to job assignment.
Follow Company safety policies.
Responsible for assigned equipment, tools, vehicle, etc.
Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned or as becomes evident.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds on an occasion, Can make exceptions or accommodate weight restrictions.
Must have the ability to follow simple oral and written directions.
Must have good mechanical aptitude.
Must have a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
Maybe required to travel overnight to assigned projects.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
