Whether rebuilding, repairing, or performing maintenance on our fleet of equipment, Diesel Mechanics are essential to our business—and quickly become our Drivers’ favorite people. Teamwork makes the dream work! A day in the life of a Diesel Mechanic: Upon arriving at work, meet with the team, assess all heavy duty diesel trucks & equipment, and prepare for the day ahead Perform start of shift tasks, which may include: Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically-operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipment Using various power tools, hand instruments and cutting-edge equipment Completing daily reports, work orders and order necessary parts Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure parts Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule Mid-shift, take a hard-earned break, having lunch with the team and catching up with coworkers Perform labor and administrative tasks, either continuing tasks from the start of shift or starting new ones Before heading home, clean up your work areas to make for a smooth next day *schedule may vary depending on the day-to-day, start time, etc. What’s required: Diesel Mechanics must have: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs. Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity Ability to kneel, crawl and climb Working Conditions: Will vary based on weather conditions.
