C0503 Waste Industries LLC is Hiring a Remote Fixed Asset Accountant

Maintain accurate fixed asset records for book and tax purposes. Process fixed asset transactions. Analyze reports and investigate discrepancies in the Fixed Asset system. Prepare fuel and vehicle tax filings and returns. Key Responsibilities: • Issue GFL Environmental asset identification numbers and set up assets in Fixed Asset sub ledger • Review fixed asset invoices and related purchase orders and other documentation prior to payment processing by A/P • Process fixed asset transfers and disposals in the system verifying appropriate levels of approval • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to fixed assets • Prepare miscellaneous asset related journal entries • Prepare and distribute monthly fixed asset reports to management and operations • Organize flow of data of information needed for IFTA and fuel tax returns from branches • Prepare fuel and vehicle tax returns and filings • Prepare disposals for sold assets and record related journal entries • Prepare journal entries to reclassify disposals of acquired assets within a specified time frame • Prepare special request reports as needed • Assist all branches and home office personnel with fixed asset inquiries • Prepare various GL balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned • Assist with entering and posting journal entries • Provide support to General Ledger team as needed. • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers • Conform in all respects with applicable laws, regulations, ordinances and to all company policies, procedures and directives • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: • University Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study • 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a preference for candidates holding or working towards designation • Experience with fixed assets, including book and tax depreciation required • Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting in accordance with IFRS/GAAP • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced high volume environment • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Strong communication and organizational skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel • Experience with Great Plains and TM1/Cognos is an asset • Strong customer service skills Physical/Mental Demands: • Able to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, talk and hear. • Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
