WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Leadership Support Assists department leadership with administrative activities. Compounding formulations Compounds, packages and accurately label standard oral and topical formulations in compliance with state and federal regulations. Dispensing and Delivering Medication Dispenses medications following the organization's policies and procedures. Delivers medication and ensures appropriate handling and storage. Filling Medication Requests Fills medication requests and completes required documentation following the organization's policies and procedures. Distribution Documentation Maintains distribution documentation and records in compliance with all regulatory standards. Supply Inventory Maintenance Maintains drug and supply inventory in distribution areas. Maintains proper storage, inventory and security conditions for medications. Removes unneeded or outdated drugs from stock and prepares for return or disposal according to departmental guidelines. Pharmacy Procurement Places medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Service Request Prioritization Prioritizes urgent need service requests and ensures immediate response and follow up. Preparing Sterile Products Prepares hazardous and non-hazardous sterile products using aseptic technique, follows safe handling guidelines for hazardous materials, and complies with set procedures in order to maintain the integrity of compounded sterile products and maintain patient/worker safety. Documents preparation in compliance with applicable standards. Staff Education Provides or assists with training for all new pharmacy technicians. Providing Peer Support Serves as a senior resource to provide support, guidance and subject matter expertise to other technicians. Records Management Utilizes computer applications to access information and document completion of tasks QUALIFICATIONS Required High School Diploma/GED 3 years Pharmacy Required 3 years Hospital Pharmacy Preferred Pharmacy Tech, State Cert (PHT) - .
