Overview

Every team member of the C Spire Crew is charged with bringing our strategic vision of being and becoming known as the BEST in our industry(s) to life. Work with Network Managers across multiple departments to provide and maintain highly specialized information technology solutions. In a senior level position, serve as liaison between end users and Network resources.

Elicit, analyze and document the business needs of project stakeholders in developing detailed business requirements for new and existing systems and/or network elements. Use communication, analytical and problem-solving skills during the system development life cycle to maximize the benefit of Network systems and company resources.

Potential candidates should reflect a basic understanding of IP technologies, Layer 2 and Layer 3 transport and Wi-Fi.

This position can be filled as a Level I, II, or III depending on experience.

• Engineer works closely with other departments, vendors, finance, etc. gathering requirements for customer solutions

Qualifications

Network Broadband Engineer, I 

REQUIRED 

• Experience in the telecommunications and/or data industry.

• Some experience with Layer 2 transport and IP connectivity.

• Excellent personal computer skills are required with emphasis in Windows, Excel, and Word.

PREFERRED

• Degree/Certificate in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent is preferred.
• Working knowledge of TDM architecture is a plus.
• Prior history working directly with customers and/or sales is preferred.
• Network and/or CCNA level certification preferred.
• Broad experience with vendor equipment and products is preferred, including but not limited to: Nokia Cisco Systems, Adtran, Juniper, Nortel, Fujitsu, Adtran – Blue Socket, Aerohive, and Occam-Calix.
• Experience with Netcracker software suites preferred.

Network Broadband Engineer, II 

REQUIRED 

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the telecommunications and/or data industry required.
• Experience with of Layer 2 transport and IP connectivity required.
• Working knowledge of TDM architecture.
• Strong oral and written communications skills required.
• Background must demonstrate the ability to operate within a complex, dynamic environment.
• Excellent personal computer skills are required with emphasis in Windows, Excel, and Word.

PREFERRED

• Degree/Certificate in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent is preferred.
• Working knowledge of TDM architecture is a plus.
• Systems/Sales Engineering or voice/data network architecture experience preferred.
• Prior history working directly with customers and/or sales is preferred.
• Network and/or CCNA level certification desired.
• Broad experience with vendor equipment and products is preferred, including but not limited to: Nokia Cisco Systems, Adtran, Juniper, Nortel, Fujitsu, Adtran – Blue Socket, Aerohive, and Occam-Calix.

Network Broadband Engineer, III 

REQUIRED 

• Five years’ experience in the telecommunications and/or data industry.
• Experience with of Layer 2 transport and IP connectivity required.

• Advanced knowledge of common network technologies at OSI Layer 3 Preferred. Advanced knowledge of common network technologies at OSI Layer 2 required.

• Working knowledge of TDM architecture required

• Demonstrated knowledge of the benefits of Wi-Fi technology and its short-comings required.
• Systems/Sales Engineering or voice/data network architecture experience required.
• Excellent personal computer skills are required with emphasis in Windows, Excel, and Word.
• Experience with Salesforce required.

PREFERRED

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of TDM architecture is a plus.
• Prior history working directly with customers and/or sales is preferred.
• Network and/or CCNA level certification desired.
• Broad experience with vendor equipment and products is preferred, including but not limited to: Nokia Cisco Systems, Adtran, Juniper, Nortel, Fujitsu, Adtran – Blue Socket, Aerohive, and Occam-Calix.
• Experience with Netcracker software suites desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screen.
