C Span is Hiring a Production Assistant: Washington Journal & Content Near Washington, DC

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Assist with the production of C-SPAN's Washington Journal, the network's daily live morning viewer call-in program, as well as other public affairs programming for the network.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists Producers in live control room and with the preparation of various program elements, including video clips and graphics.
  • Answers, screens and posts viewer calls for Washington Journal and other productions as needed.
  • Helps develop and maintain Washington Journal's social media presence.
  • Keeps computer database up-to-date.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed information on programming for the TV networks.
  • Coordinates with colleagues (fellow PAs, Producers, etc.) on status of program elements.
  • Edits programming in our Dalet content management system. Coordinates and executes workflow for video and graphics.
  • Performs timely and accurate work on program logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND/SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, political science, history or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in current events, politics and public affairs.
  • Understanding of C-SPAN programming and philosophy.
  • Attention to detail a must.
  • Strong social media skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings and weekends.
