Position Overview
Account for customer orders- spanning multiple distribution points and delivery regions- by creating the best possible routing solution to facilitate the efficient and timely delivery of customer orders at the lowest possible cost to our company. Daily variables such as weather, customer requests, and operational demands must be understood and manually incorporated into the final routing solution. While the financial impact of a router’s work is dependent on their assigned billings, their solutions directly impact the P&L. The average router has influence on nearly $7 million in annual transportation expense.
Job Description

$20/hr or more DOE and skillset
M-F 8:30 am-5:30 pm, some weekend coverage
You Will Contribute By:
Manually manipulate the route planning software’s solution to optimize results by consolidating loads, re-sequencing stops, and/or holding small/unscheduled orders to later billing cycles.
Incorporate multiple customer requests within the routing solution, utilizing the most cost efficient avenue. May include off-schedule deliveries, non-standard delivery times, first or last stop delivery requirements, etc.
Communicate the plan of action to internal stakeholders, while capturing any incremental expense via the preferred method.
Finalize routing solutions within the established systematic framework and distribute reports necessary to downstream operational partners (warehouse, dispatch, etc.). The router is responsible for understanding and making these final decisions based on customer agreements, warehouse production rates, and fleet staffing.
Learning Strategic Planning: Assist in developing and executing timely delivery routes from multiple warehouses, ensuring compliance with delivery constraints and established protocols.
Priority Management: Learn to manage competing priorities to maintain network integrity and meet stringent deadlines.
Reporting Support: Aid in generating and distributing comprehensive reports to internal and external stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the identification of operational inefficiencies to enhance productivity.
Independent Decision-Making: Assist in efforts to make decisions that positively impact customer experience and operational costs.
Network Optimization: Observe and support internal network movements, assisting in executing internal warehouse transfers to optimize combined commodity deliveries.
Data Entry Assistance: Provide support in conducting meticulous manual data entry tasks for cross-dock products, leveraging various data sources.
Communication Support: Assist in fostering proactive communication channels via phone and email, promptly addressing inquiries and requests to maintain exceptional customer service standards.

2-3 years: Microsoft Office
Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain experience
