Job Title: Processing Technician

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Salary Level: Hourly - Technical

SUMMARY

Learns to monitors injection molding machine and equipment processes to meet customer specifications by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintains injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment, using such items as hand tools, electrical testing instruments, machine controls and gages.

Adjusts machine operations and instruments to accomplish Control Plan objectives and quality expectations and to accomplish start up and shut down efficiently.

Documents all process problems and corrections in mold log book.

Cooperates with Setup personnel, Operators, Quality, and Supervisors to ensure quality production parts.

Communicates with manufacturing personnel to continuously achieve effective methods for processing.

Attaches moving parts and sub-assemblies, such as valves, gauges, portable equipment, conveyors, to injection molding machines.

Operates equipment in safe manner; observes 5S.

Performs basic design work for injection molding tooling.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Two to three years college or university in the plastics engineering field.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
