Summary & Purpose

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist in painting and simple repairs for the Maintenance Department in accordance with current federal, state, local laws and standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Plant Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform painting and drywall repairs along with additional duties as delegated by the Plant Operations Director
• Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and requirements. 
• Meet schedules and timelines as required. 
• Agree not to disclose assigned user ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator or designee. 
• Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator or designee. 
• Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility’s information system. 
• Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator or his/her designee. 
• Ensure that departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screensaver activates within established facility policy guidelines. 
• Provide leadership, follow instructions, and take suggestions (constructive criticism). 
• Attend and participate in annual facility in-service training programs as scheduled (e.g., OSHA, TB, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, Safety, etc.)
• Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. 
• Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to the Director of Plant Operations. 
• Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Director of Plant Operations or designee. 
• · Perform other duties as assigned. 
• Required Qualifications
•  Possessing a full understanding and dedication to the mission, vision, foundational belief, and culture of Byron Health Center.
• Modeling Byron Health Center’s cultural expectations to fellow team members.
• High school education or its equivalent preferred.
• One year of relevant work experience preferred.
•  Valid Indiana driver’s license.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee and resident care information.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Working Conditions & Physical Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)
• Works in office areas as well as throughout the community. 
• Works on-site as physical presence at Byron Health Center is a requirement of this position. Travel to local vendors, stores, or service providers for equipment needs and servicing as directed by the Director of Plant Operations. 
• Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. 
• Is subject to frequent interruptions.
• Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. 
• Is subject to emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
• Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
• Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, gases, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
• May be subject to injury from falls and burns from equipment. 
• May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
• May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
