Overview

By Light Professional IT Services is looking to hire a Network Engineer III to design data communication networks. Develop and maintain functional and secure networks. Perform engineering services to enable all aspects of network management from network design through implementation, maintenance, sustainment of existing networks, and identification/correction of complex internetwork issues. 

Your goal will be to establish networks that cater to customer needs, exhibiting excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) and resolve complex network problems and network simulators
• Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices to minimize network latency and maximize data throughput
• Optimize network performance and integrity by execution of security testing and design evaluations and suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
• Implement specific network solutions to support server requirements to include load-balancing, VPN's, firewall contexts, and network address translation (NAT) where appropriate
• Employ government standards to configure the interconnects between data centers, networks and security boundaries

Required Experience/Qualifications

• A current TS/SCI/Full Scope Lifestyle polygraph clearance
• Twelve (12) years' experience in n Networking (WAN/CAN/DCN/NETSEC).
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional network engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
• An IAT level III baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M is required. An IAT II will be accepted (Security CE, GSEC, or SSCP) if the candidate obtains an IAT level III (CISA, CISSP, CASP, GCIH, or GCED) within 1 year of contract award and provide expected date for completion.
• A CCNP certification or higher along with an ITIL v3 Foundations certification
• Three (3) years’ experience operating and maintaining internet service provider MPLS WANs along with experience troubleshooting secure network issues.
• One (1) year experience operating and maintaining Agency external (1P, 2P etc.) boundaries (peering points).
• Five (5) years' experience with Data Transport (store and forward) systems, DOD Formal Messaging systems (i.e. AMHS) - to include an understanding and experience with LINUX operating systems, Domain Name Service (DNS) – to include operation, configuration and sustainment.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

• Requires a current TS/SCI with full-scope polygraph.
• By Light does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters; vaccination requirements and testing are subject to the status of the federal contractor mandate and customer site requirements; testing is at the cost of the employee.
