JOB TITLE: Car Wash Location Manager

REPORTS TO: Area Operations Manager

General Summary: The Location Manager is responsible for the daily operation of a specific car wash location. They are accountable to maximize sales and profits, minimize controllable expenses and shortages while meeting Company established sales and operational performance objectives; for hiring, training, coaching and counseling staff; and for meeting all Company established standards regarding Customer Service. The Location Manager is an exempt member of the Store Operations Team, headed by the Director of Operations and reports directly to a designated Area Operations Manager.

General Job Setting: The Location Manager works in all areas of the car wash facility and property, including car wash tunnel area, chemical and equipment room, vacuum area, office grounds. Adequate lighting, heat and air conditioning are provided in the office area but the position requires working the majority of the work schedule inside in areas without air conditioning or heat and outside including during inclement weather. The position requires standing for extended periods, reaching to complete cleaning or maintenance checks and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Achieves Sales and Performance Objectives: Evaluates regularly the factors that affect location operations and establishes daily practices that contribute to the overall operation and profitability of the car wash; takes all necessary action, within Company guidelines, to ensure that sales volume standards are met; monitors the facility and addresses or reports any issues in a timely manner; monitors equipment and effectively communicates maintenance issues; controls chemical and supply use and reduces waste; properly operates and maintains all POS equipment and manages funds accurately and reduces shortages; follows and enforces all established Company policies and procedures.
  • Manages Staff: Manages location team equitably and professionally; hires, trains, coaches and counsels location staff according to all Company, Federal and state requirements; follows all Company established policies and procedures regarding associate documentation; accurately processes payroll according to Company established policies and all State and Federal requirements, develops team members and prepares them for internal promotion opportunities.
  • Maintains Company Customer Service Standards: Offers excellent Customer Service: makes business decisions regarding customer service issues that result in improved customer satisfaction and loyalty; meets all cleanliness standards; reports customer issues immediately and follows up through problem resolution; is knowledgeable of all Company wash and loyalty products and can assist customers with their questions and with their purchases.
  • Establishes Cooperative Work Relationships and Manages Self Development: Consults with Company resources, including Area Operations Manager, Corporate Administration and Human Resources representatives, Corporate Information Systems, Maintenance and Facility representatives regarding operational issues including associate terminations, equipment issues, system issues and customer complaints, including vehicle damages; takes responsibility for self-development plan; actively seeks opportunities to improve skills and knowledge; participates willingly in Company scheduled training and development programs; identifies and acts on opportunities to improve Company operations beyond normal scope of accountability noted in job description.

Skills Required:

  • Location Manager must have strong leadership skills and ability to accomplish all Company established standards through staff.
  • Location Manager must have good verbal, telephone and written communication skill and be able to communicate well with all levels in the organization as well as with customers and outside vendors.
  • Location Manager must establish positive, co-operative work relationships with corporate personnel, Regional personnel, customers and location staff.
  • Location Manager must be comfortable in working with documents in Microsoft Office and Adobe, and willing to accept training in applicable areas of technology.
  • Location Manager must be willing to travel to various car wash locations for training and development purposes; relocation is not required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of retail or applicable management experience in a position accountable for daily operations; meeting profitability standards, hiring, scheduling and managing staff and executing service standards.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Meet or exceeds established sales standards including active efforts to establish commercial accounts and sell Company loyalty products.
  • Evaluates daily car wash operations, equipment performance and product quality; ensures that all necessary supplies including chemicals are ordered according to policy and available; ensures that all necessary maintenance issues are promptly reported and addressed; follows all Company policies and procedures regarding documentation of wash operations.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures, as well as Federal or State guidelines, regarding payroll and meets established payroll goals; prepares and submits all payroll reports; effectively uses available payroll budget to meet all Company established performance standards; prepares weekly work schedule with focus on wash volume and Customer Service standards.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures and meets all established cash handling, including reducing cash shortages, managing rewash and free wash percentages, controlling vehicle damages.
  • Interacts daily with customers and meets all established performance objectives regarding customer service; ensures that customer visits a clean, pleasant and safe facility and encourages repeat business; handles complaints and damages in a timely, professional ,and effective manner; trains entire staff regarding customer service objectives.
  • Interacts daily with location staff and professionally follows all guidelines established for employment practices and salary administration; observes individual job performance and ensures that each associate is properly trained to perform their job competently; ensures that each associate understands the standards by which their job performance will be evaluated; offers coaching, and counseling when required to immediately improve any poor performance standards; offers each associate developmental opportunities that allow them to accept additional responsibilities and advancement opportunities; delivers constructive criticism, coaching and discipline when needed in a professional manner, and maintains a successions plan to continually meet manpower needs for location and area.
