POSITION INFORMATION

Job Title: Trim and Packaging Technician 

Reports To: Team Leads

Division Cultivation, Operation Grow, LLC Classification: Non Exempt

Department Cultivation Status: Full-Time

STANDARDS

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees are expected to conform to the standards of conduct and performance as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

PURPOSE

The Trim and Packaging Technician will assist in maintaining quality control measures to ensure high quality product and carries out day-to-day tasks including trimming, prepping, packaging, and labeling in accordance with standards set by butter. 

Direct Reports: Team Leads

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Staging product and packaging supplies to meet daily production schedule.

• Performing quality assurance protocols as designated by butter procedures.

• Responsible for increasing operational efficiency and reducing waste through ownership, teamwork, communication, and collaboration.

• Perform in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and conducting visual inspections to ensure all product meets or exceed butter’s specifications and customer’s expectations.

• Ensuring 100% compliance involving proper weighing, data recording, product tracking and security throughout the entire packaging process.

• Consistently operates in an efficient manner that also complies with all OSHA regulations, butter’s SOP’s, and all applicable required procedures.

• Responsible for maintaining the organization and cleanliness of work areas.

General and Associated Factors

• Regulations require that incumbent be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain medical and adult use marijuana work credentials.

Education/Experience:

• Minimum High School or G.E.D equivalent required.

• Experience in the cannabis industry preferred, but not required.

Technological Skills:

• Experience with seed to sale systems and METRC is a plus.

• Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills, shares expertise with others. 

• Proficiency with excel and other computer literacy is a plus.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• Standard office environment but with travel to retail and warehouse environment with artificial lighting and ventilation, and warehouse conditions including:

• Potential for mold exposure

• Potential for allergic reaction or hypersensitivity to the marijuana plants

• Carbon dioxide (CO2) may be encountered. CO2 can displace oxygen at high concentrations. 

• CO2 exposure can cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, rapid breathing, and increased heart rate; in extreme cases, unconsciousness and death can result.

• The warehouse is properly ventilated, however, marijuana cultivation produces ozone from the chemical reaction of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds, such as terpenes that are given off from the marijuana plant. Terpenes and nitric oxides can be associated with eye, skin, and mucous irritation. In some people, ozone can cause decreased lung function and/or exacerbate pre-existing health effects, especially in workers with asthma or other respiratory complications. PPE in the form of respiratory protection may be recommended in certain parts of the warehouse.
