This position will work Tuesday-Friday 7:00 am-5:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM. Sunday and Monday off.

The Dispatcher is responsible for radio dispatch functions, client scheduling, and associated record-keeping duties. The dispatcher will seek areas for scheduling improvement and drive efficiencies in cooperation with the Director of Operations. The dispatcher will handle all incoming radio and telephone communication including advising vehicle operators and handling client inquiries including scheduling trips. Additional functions may include operational reporting and acting in the absence of the Director of Operations.

Essential Job Functions:

Operates base radio console equipment, transmitting and receiving routine and emergency messages from bus operators.

Enforces professional driver and radio conduct as outlined by BCRTA policies and procedures.

Efficiently takes customer calls for information on transit services and schedules requested trip reservations during operating hours.

Enters accurate trip data.

Familiarized with pricing of trips and areas covered by BCRTA services.

Prepares daily bus operator manifests, manages communication of changes, additions, cancellations during service and will be required to learn the scheduling and call center processes.

Advises vehicle operators on standard operating procedures during emergencies and under unforeseen circumstances.

Advises clients on standard operating procedures.

Operates data terminals for input and management of information pertaining to daily public transit operations and general services in a quick and efficient manner.

Track and maintain accurate, statistical operating data.

Understands the importance of contracts and subcontracting out trips to other providers.

Manages daily route schedules for maximum efficiency, adjusts as necessary.

Coordinates with other Dispatch team members and management to provide consistent messages to internal and external clients.

Prioritizes incoming communications and responses to provide superior customer service.

Effectively takes information on customer complaints, entering I-Reporter reports, and forwarding to appropriate coordinator or management.

Maintains composure and acts thoughtfully under pressure.

Promotes a positive public image of BCRTA and exceeds customer expectations.

Reports time off and any dispatch issues to the Director of Operations.

Performs assignments as directed by management.

Ability to perform duties of a Vehicle Operator as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:

At least one year experience as a vehicle operator and/or equivalent experience in dispatching or call center duties.

Education:

High School diploma required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana Driver License
