The person selected for this position must possess the educational qualifications of a teacher as outlined by state requirements. This person must have a warm,

friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able relate well with children, and be willing to fulfill job responsibilities in accordance with the program philosophy. The person must be able to maintain a professional attitude toward the children, the families, and the staff at all times, and be able to communicate professionally and openly.

Responibilities

  • Reports to the Lead Infant Teacher.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
  • Ensure a safe environment including inspection of materials and environment.
  • Practice Preventative Health from your training (ongoing, daily, sanitizing is required for all teachers and aids).
  • Ensure all teachers, aids and parents help practice preventative health measures from your training.
  • Plan curriculum for the children in the classroom that is developmentally appropriate and helps children develop physically, cognitively, emotionally, socially and academically. (Lesson plans due to Director by the 20th of each month).
  • Implement the daily program.
  • Ensure regular observation of children throughout the year. Submit Progress Reports on children quarterly. Provide evidence of children's development and growth.
  • Arrange for and attend fi eld trips and outings (neighborhood stroller/wagon rides)
  • Decorate the room including bulletin boards in alliance with our natural and home like learning design.
  • Submit an article to the director with classroom information to be included in the monthly newsletter (due by 20th of month).
  • Maintain daily child attendance log.
  • Carry out and maintain logs of quarterly fire drills.
  • Carry out and maintain logs of quarterly emergency drills (i.e. Lock Down Drills)
  • Help assistant teachers and aides to maintain a professional attitude toward the program, the children, and the staff, and assist if needed with the appropriate communication. Be an example of professional behavior and appropriate communication at all times.
  • Plan, prepare, and care for the environment.
  • Be responsible for maintaining the observational records for each child and all other routine forms.
  • Be responsible for accomplishing all routine tasks with regard to the health and safety of the children and the maintenance of the program in accordance with local and state regulations.
  • Attend monthly general staff meetings.
  • Meet with parents quarterly to discuss child(ren)’s growth and development using approved progress report forms (DRDP and ASQ).

Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
  • Must hold and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications for infant, child and adult.
  • Must have a Preventative Health Certificate
  • Must have or complete Mandated Reporting Certificate prior to employment
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to squat, lung, and stand from a seated floor floor position.
  • Must be able to move quickly and with ease.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with infants in a child care setting (as shown by a positive reference from a former employer supervisor in the preschool education field).
  • Must have 12 semester units in child development or higher.
  • Must have 3 units in CD related to infant care
  • Must continue education in the CD field with online courses or webinars offered by YMCA, CDA, SWC, or our SDQPI program.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
