Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct hire opportunity open for a Tool Maker II at our manufacturing plant in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

The Tool Maker II responsible for assisting in design, constructing, altering, and/or repairing tools and fixtures, machining special pump components, and planning and performing bench work and required machine operations.

Job Responsibilities

· Maintains a list and storage location of stocked hardware

· Maintains the raw material rack/bin storage of shapes and plates

· Ensures work requests are completed on or before the due date

· Communicates job status via project status board

· Maintains general housekeeping standards

· Performs daily preventive maintenance, where applicable

· Makes best practice decisions between CNC/ Manual

· Modifies fixtures per engineering request

· Inspects fixtures and make repairs as necessary

· Fits and assembles parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gages, and tools, using machine tools and

· hand tools.

· Visualizes and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.

· Selects metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.

· Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gage blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

· Designs jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products.

· Sets up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.

Required Experience

· 7 plus years of relevant experience in the field of tool making as described in the essential functions statement above: Required

· Experience using measuring instruments such as calipers, gage blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators: Required

· 7 plus years of experience in the set up and operation of CNC mills and lathes: Required

· 3 plus years of CAD CAM experience: Preferred

· High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

· Associate’s Degree (two-year college or technical school): Preferred (Field of Study: Precision Machining)

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook): Preferred

· Journeyman’s Card: Preferred

· Valid Drivers’ License (must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards): Required

Personal Qualifications

· Work with a high level of initiative, be self-motivated, and possess professional maturity

· Be detail, goal, and safety oriented

· Must be organized and maintain a clean and orderly workspace

· Must possess a positive attitude, be dependable, and trustworthy

· Work independently or as a team, as necessary, to fulfill department and Busch goals and objectives

· Possess strong oral and written communication skills in English

Job Requirements

· Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check

o Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis

· Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE

· Ability and willingness to travel (up to 10%) domestically and internationally

Physical Requirements

· Constant reaching outward, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 10lbs

· Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 25lbs

· Occasional climbing, squatting, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, and lifting/carrying/pushing pulling up to 100lbs

· All applicants must be able to hear and see audible and visual alarms and must be able to wear all required PPE, such as safety shoes, electrical hazards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
