Burrtec is a well established refuse and recycling collection company serving over fifteen municipalities throughout Southern California and employing over 1400 full time employees. Burrtec continues to grow through co. acquisitions and successful bid proposals. We are currently seeking the following positions for our Agua Mansa/Riverside Division.

Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Transfer Station (TS) Operations Supervisor - 1st Shift

Coordinates and directs the activities of equipment operators, drivers, scale house operator, and all temporary staff. Ensures that workforce is adequately staffed and trained. Will exercise independent judgment when determining workflow, staffing and monitoring safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Supervise the day to day activities of the materials processing, recycling, and transfer station facility which includes the sorting and baling areas and equipment operations.
• Coordinate the loading of trailers and the unloading of recyclables.
• Process employee requests including vacation, PTO’s etc. and assists with the scheduling of time off.
• Coach and develop employees by continuously communicating with team members and providing guidance for improvement and recognition of efforts
• Handle and resolve employee relations issues and incorporates consistent and timely disciplinary standards
• Follow and administer company safety programs by conducting monthly safety meetings, facility inspections and ensuring compliance to all OSHA and DOT regulations
• Investigate and complete reports for work related injuries and or vehicle accidents/incidents and submits paperwork to appropriate insurance carriers in a timely manner
• Train new employees on general safety policies, DOT drug and alcohol program and proper use of assigned equipment, will administer corporate policies and ensure safety compliance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Previous experience in a recycling environment is preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem solving and organizational skills and ability to maintain and promote a team work environment.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to coach and develop subordinates.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are required, and ability to effectively interface with general public.
• Ability to distinguish trends and recognize problems and implement plan of action
• Basic mechanical and P.C. Skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and possess bi-lingual skills in Spanish, required
• Be available to work weekends.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• A valid California Driver's License, required
• Minimum of 5 years' Supervisory experience and ability to motivate people, required.

PHYSICAL:

• Ability to operate forklift, baler, wheel loader, Bobcat, dozer and sort line equipment and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, wind)
• Will be exposed to moderate noise and dust levels.
