Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award two-time recipient from INSIGHT into Diversity (2022,2023) Summary : The Clerkship Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for osteopathic medical students preparing for and currently in fourth-year clinical rotations (education) as well as for clinical sites and preceptors.

The clerkship coordinator will maintain official college evaluations / scheduling records according to the administrative policies and the clerkship handbook established for each COM class.

This position is Exempt. This position reports to the Director of Clinical Education. The starting salary for this position is $49,500 depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Provide support and meet regularly with the Associate Dean of Clinical Education and Director of Clinical Education concerning office management issues and activities and the status of rotations.

Identifies and evaluates the methods for improving workflow and cost-effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvement.

Interpret and apply COCA and college policies to support compliance. Work with the third-year coordinator and Regional Academic Center Coordinators for fourth-year rotations that occur in the Regional Academic Centers.

Establish relationships and acts as a liaison to hospitals, internal departments, and divisions regarding orientation, affiliation agreements, and rotations outside of the Regional Academic Centers.

Oversee department-level student orientation. Inform medical students of inter- and intradepartmental policy and procedure changes.

Track, report, and ensure compliance with procedures regarding affiliation agreements, and initial and re-credentialing of preceptors.

Maintain databases with student and preceptor data, including New Innovations. Manage the evaluation processes of the students, faculty, and rotations.

In cooperation with Regional Academic Centers, develop and distribute fourth-year schedules. Coordinate medical student rotations.

Travel to the Regional Academic Centers for individual student meetings and fourth-year preparations. Coordinate and support students with away rotations - (Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS / VSLO), Clinician Nexus).

Verify students' status and activities as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Education.

Other skills important to this position : Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize information.

Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality. Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to make decisions independently or to escalate issues as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience : Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or three to five years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare and / or education setting Note : Applicants must currently be authorized to lawfully work in the United States on a full-time basis.
