Overview
Come join our growing team here at Burlington as a Store Operations Expense Analyst!
Our Store Operations Expense Analyst is primarily responsible for leveraging existing and creating updated key metric data to support improved sales and store expense performance in the payroll area. Some of the other key responsibilities are identifying process improvements, analysis of data and providing recommendations for specific actions.
Budgeting
Support annual expense planning for new stores
Conduct budget analytics by store to refine based on trends and opportunities
Tracks new store grand opening cadence and adjusts budgets as needed
Identify any potential savings or leverage
Support Profit Improvement Contribution (PIC) process through idea generation and data gathering to support existing projects
Expense Management – Payroll
Forecast weekly, monthly and quarterly positions for Shortage Control Associates vs plan and ensure timely identification of any risks and opportunities
Produce robust, easy to understand payroll reporting to help stores and field manage budgeted staffing for Shortage Control Associates
Coordinate with Budgeting & Scheduling Teams, HR and Asset Protection to ensure the right staffing models are in place
Provide detailed tracking and mitigation options for controllable expenses (e.g., Overtime)
Strategic and ad-hoc analyses
Conduct strategic analyses to support improvement and savings initiatives:
Increase efficiencies through simplification of reporting, automation of data pulls or elimination of legacy reports no longer useful and collaborate with key partners (e.g., larger Store Operations Team, Asset Protection, HR, Finance team, Procurement, etc.)
Identify and support avenues for savings initiatives through data pulls and analyses
Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support manager/director/executive requests. Past examples include:
Analysis of recommendations for store specific adjustments
Analysis of expense trend investigations
ROI Analyses regarding special investments/projects involving payroll support
Regional market analysts and support of other key initiatives
Education:
BS/BA or equivalent experience
Experience:
Experience in retail with a focus on strong analytics/problem-solving experience.
Candidates must have strong communication and relationship building skills (both written and verbal), strong, practical knowledge of Business Intelligence reporting, MS Office, Power Point and the ability to utilize other internal tracking mechanisms.
Advanced excel experience (i.e., V-lookups, Pivot tables, etc.)
