The Ratan Laboratory at Burke Neurological Institute focuses on developing novel therapeutics for stroke and Alzheimer’s disease. We are currently seeking a talented, motivated, and enthusiastic candidate for a Research Technician positionwith laboratory experience in either animal husbandry, rodent behavioral techniques, cell culture or molecular biology. Experienced technicians, recent graduates, and current students are all encouraged to apply.
The focus our lab is in identifying how physiological stresses (oxidative stress, hypoxia, DNA damage, glucose deprivation) are sensed by the nervous system and transduced into adaptive or maladaptive transcriptional responses. In cases where transcription is adaptive, we have developed drugs that manipulate these sensors and allow us to build “resilience” in a host of diseases.

The Burke Neurological Institute is a nonprofit leading scientific research institute devoted to advancing the study of neurological diseases and injuries. The overarching goal of the Institute, an academic affiliate of Weill Cornell Medicine, is to leverage the most innovative and highest quality neuroscience to restore brain and spinal cord function in those with neurological injury including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease, age related macular degeneration. Twenty faculty funded by federal and private agencies work alongside 100 individuals on a beautiful 60-acre campus in White Plains, New York, 15 miles from the heart of New York City.

Compensation:
· Salary Range: $24.73 to $38.46 per hour, ($45-$70k per annum) based on years of experience.
