Want to work for an A/E firm that values employee input and collaboration? Burgess & Niple is seeking an Electrical Designer in our Norfolk, Virginia office.

B&N Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Part of an electrical team in the design of commercial and federal buildings, as well as supporting electrical design for additional market areas to include roadway and bridge lighting, treatment plants and pumps stations, and community developments/sites
  • Perform building assessments and electrical evaluations.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, design analysis and construction cost estimates. Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT required.
  • Provide design of electrical services, power distribution, lighting and control systems, emergency and standby power systems, and low voltage auxiliary systems. Opportunity to support the design of instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Perform construction related services to include shop drawings reviews, response to requests for information, and perform periodic site visits to observe construction.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in related field
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with clients and colleagues is required
  • Experience performing photometric calculations using AGI32 and/or Visual Lighting software is required
  • Experience using Revit and/or Bentley software is a plus
  • Experience performing power system studies and arc flash hazard analysis is a plus
  • Experience designing instrumentation and control systems is a plus. • Desire and ability to work in a group setting.
