Job Description

As a Part-Time Geotechnical Soils and Concrete Laboratory Technician at Bunnell Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), you will assume a pivotal role in our organization's dedication to excellence in our AASHTO and CCRL accredited laboratory.

Your expertise and dedication will play a critical role in maintaining the high standards of our laboratory and ensuring the success of our projects.

Minimum Job Requirements

• High School or General Education Equivalent (GED)
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
• Basic level proficiency in MS Office applications (Word & Excel).
• Good handwriting skills
• Ability to use hand tools and testing apparatuses.
• Ability to stand, squat, kneel or bend over for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be self-motivated, able to efficiently work independently while completing scheduled tasks, and / or lead a project team.
• Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with team members, and BLE leadership.

Daily Functions and Duties

• Laboratory sample receipt and processing
• Demolding Cylinders
• Writing Lab ID's
• Reading a tape measure and Calipers
• Using a square and / or straight-edge ruler
• Preparing proctors (Drying dirt in pans)
• Performing basic soil and concrete tests
• Learning how to perform some of the below tests :
• Soil and Aggregate testing
• Triaxial compression
• Direct shear
• Consolidation
• Proctors
• Grain size analysis
• Atterberg limits
• Permeability
• Organic contents
• Specificity gravity
• Resistivity
• Concrete strength testing
