TECHNOLOGY LIAISON

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technology Liaison performs a variety of technical tasks and duties relating to the installation, diagnosis, repair, maintenance and reporting of all school system technology, computer and software components and applications. In conjunction, these tasks will be expected to be performed with a high level of social and interpersonal skills as demonstrated through communication, teamwork and collaboration. The work is performed under the general supervision of the School Principal, with technical assistance provided by Level II and Level III technology staff.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 Year Technical Degree or equivalent technical work experience.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Certification.
  • 2 Year Technical Degree or equivalent technical work experience.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides a "help desk" resource for students and staff with technology problems or questions relating to technology and instructional software.
  • Coordinates directly with the School Media Specialist and other designated personnel by the School Principal for scheduling of work orders, updating software and providing general repair and maintenance of instructional and administrative technology equipment.
  • Provides maintenance and repairs for all technology hardware and software in the school, to include printing, computer/mouse/keyboard, software configuration, telecommunications, distance learning, multimedia and others.
  • Responsible for entering all school work order completions into the county work order system with complete solutions of problem so as to build on knowledge base help desk application system.
  • Assists with updating and installation of software as deemed necessary by the school system.
  • Consults with district technology personnel to resolve concerns related to technology equipment and software.
  • Be able to multitask in time-sensitive situations while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency expectations.
  • Provides technical advice to school staff.
  • Provides data backup and recovery support in the local school.
  • Assists with installation and startup of technology systems and equipment.
  • Implements procedures for virus scanning, spyware and malware removal.
  • Assists school and or departments with any movement of computers within the building.
  • Provides for accountability of district assets through effective recording, accounting, transferring and disposing of these assets within the district approved asset inventory system.
  • Serves as an active support member on the school technology or technology/media committee as requested by each local school and attends technical classes provided by the district technology department.
  • Reports lost or stolen equipment.
  • Ensures the placement of all equipment in secure locations.
  • Assists the school administrator in determining school staff development needs related to technology and curriculum software.
  • Communicates with the school principal to facilitate the implementation of technology initiatives to support instructional goals.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Attendance and Dependability: Ability to report to work at the scheduled time and to seldom be absent from work. Demonstrate prompt and regular work attendance. Process appropriate paperwork to authorize absences in accordance with school system procedures. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate manner and to be conscientious about work performance.


EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designated supervisor in accordance with Policy GBI - Evaluation of Personnel.
