Boulder County is Hiring a Code Compliance Specialist I/II Near Boulder, CO
Boulder County Community Planning and Permitting Department (CPP) is seeking to hire a Code Compliance Specialist I/II. The Boulder County Land Use Department has an opening for a Land Use Code Compliance Specialist I or Code Compliance Specialist II. The individual hired will enforce the Boulder County Land Use Code, Building Code and Noxious Weed Management Plan. They will work with the public to provide zoning and planning assistance.
This is a full-time, benefited position. This position will work Monday - Friday8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work remotely and out of 2045 13th Street Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
New employees receive an 80-hour bankof vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Enforcing Boulder County's Land Use Code and associated regulations
Serving as a liaison to the public providing zoning information and guiding residents through code compliance requirements
Conducting site investigations for zoning, building, and noxious weed violations
Maintaining the computerized violation tracking system
Answering public and press inquiries regarding zoning, routine planning and building and noxious weed enforcement matters
Reviewing building permits, deeds, and aerial photos related to zoning investigations
Conducting investigations related to legal actions
Attending hearings and occasionally making presentations or testifying at hearings including serving as a witness during court proceedings
Working collaboratively with other jurisdictions and county departments including the County Attorney's Office, Transportation Department, Public Health and the Sheriff's Office with regard to enforcement efforts
Assist with develop and implement education and public outreach programs regarding zoning code, building code, and noxious week enforcement for staff and public.
Performs related work, as required
May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:
Code Compliance Specialist I: minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of experience in reading ordinance language, build code, or in planning, building, or zoning.
Code Compliance Specialist II: minimum of 2 years of college or university with courses in planning, architecture, building construction, public administration or related field AND 2 years of experience in planning, building, or zoning.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. DRIVER'S LICENSE:

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires the ability to conduct site/field inspections which may include inspections of active construction sites and sites with difficult terrain in a variety of weather conditions.

Working knowledge of ordinances and statutes governing building and zoning
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of planning and building
Ability to read, understand, and enforce the county land use regulations including planning and building
Ability to read and understand drawings, maps and plats
Ability to read and understand deeds
Ability to work effectively with other employees, agencies and the public
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
