POSITION DESCRIPTION

A General Contracting Estimator is a professional with 3-5 years experience who can apply their expert knowledge of construction for the overall development of the project scope, guidelines, budgeting and proposal generation. Responsible for the management of all pre-construction planning, pre-bid attendance, bid management, and estimating activities on multiple bid opportunities at the same time. A GC Estimator works directly with the Client, Architect, and Subcontractors, and work with Design Development drawings through Construction drawings. This role requires proven construction estimating experience as well as a complete understanding of contractual requirements and project specifications. Long-term objectives include periodic review of job practices for quality, efficiency, work methods, and following company policies. A GC Estimators performance is measured through KPI’s to contribute to the overall company success.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively identify, evaluate and pursue projects that fit our scope.
  • Organize and solicit multiple subcontractor and material vendor proposals for each project.
  • Ensure that estimate details and takeoffs are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of project.
  • Direction and manage the estimating team to prepare and negotiate accurate estimates, contracts and sub-contracts on all project types with competent knowledge of the estimating, contract and insurance documents and procedures.
  • Responsible for the overall bidding process with a keen focus on communications, detail, accuracy, quality, and profitability.
  • Ensure timely completion of multiple deliverables, and proactively address difficult situations in a positive cooperative manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 Years of SOLID LOCAL General Contracting Estimating on midsize and specialty commercial building projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the areas of: on-screen takeoff, estimating, scheduling, budgeting/cost control, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge in the intricacies of these computer software programs(Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • People skills are essential; able to establish trust, confidence and relationships quickly through excellent writing, oral presentation skills, creativity and strong problem solving skills.
  • Understand contracts, architectural plans and specifications, and comply with all state contracting laws.

The team at Builders United is excited to offer this unique compensation package including base salary performance bonus opportunities. The PERFECT CAREER SUPER STAR will see potential annual earnings range from $90,000-$120,000 within the first 12 to 18 months, with options for medical, dental and other benefits after 60 days.
