Builders FirstSource is Hiring a Maintenance Supervisor Near Apex, NC
PURPOSESupervises and coordinates activities with Manufacturing locations in maintaining, repairing, retiring, relocating and installing plant equipment. Gathers bids to outsource necessary work. Prioritizes repair/improvement issues and opportunities with approval from VP of Manufacturing.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAll activities below must be coordinated with the local plant/location manager and/or have VP approval:
- Requisitions and issues tools, equipment, and supplies that are plant equipment related.
- Requisitions work from outside services or vendors for projects that require specific expertise or capabilities.
- Inspects work areas and production schedules to determine type of work, materials, equipment and labor requirements for completion of “equipment” “project”.
- Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Operates equipment such as forklifts, crane, bulldozers and graders, and trains workers in equipment operation.
- Performs activities of workers supervised as needed.
- Reviews installation equipment orders or schedules to ascertain resources necessary to complete project on time.
- Plans and implements equipment and facility design upgrades and maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in a relevant lead role AND 5 years of maintenance experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Planning/Organizing: Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Sets goals and objectives; Organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; Develops realistic action plans.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Web/internet research on equipment specs and email outlook.
- Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Must complete BFS safety training.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit, and occasionally required to stand and/or walk. The employee is routinely required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and talk or hear.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
