Under general supervision analyzes existing freight rates, tariff regulations, and proposed or government approved changes in rates to revise company rate schedules or recommend changes in methods or modes of shipping materials in order to minimize transportation costs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Analyzes proposals and applications for changes in rates, rules, or regulations received from shippers; reviews regulations and regulatory agencies' decisions on applications filed by other carriers governing established rates and newly approved rate changes to determine required changes in company's rate charts.• Assists marketing/purchasing efforts in meeting delivery needs of customers including routing of inventory, carrier selections, transportation costs, rush deliveries, loss/damage claims, and equipment acquisition.• Maintains freight documentation in paper logs or computer data base application in order to track, analyze and report on costs and preferred providers; recordkeeping also provides reporting data required by regulatory agencies.• Assures proper rates/classifications and takes corrective action where appropriate.• Confers with shippers to discuss revised rates, rules, and regulations.• Prepares revised rate schedules for departments.• Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.• Other duties may be assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
